Full ‘Santa Sangre’ Blu-ray Specs

The term “cult director” applies to no one more than Chilean-born filmmaker and visionary shaman Alejandro Jodorowsky. Now Jodorowsky’s long-unseen masterpiece Santa Sangre will make its eagerly anticipated American Blu-ray and DVD debut on January 25, 2011, from Severin Films via MPI Media Group. The internationally acclaimed tale of madness, passion and redemption will be fully retored and accompanied by a wealth of extras, carrying an SRP of $29.98 on DVD and $34.98 on Blu-Ray.
Jodorowsky exploded onto the international scene with his notorious 1970s sensations El Topo and Holy Mountain. Endorsed by John Lennon and embraced by underground culture worldwide, the films redefined movies as both art and entertainment while single-handedly creating the midnight movie genre.

Legal frustrations with the films’ owner (and Beatles manager) Allen Klein, as well as a failed attempt to direct a 14-hour movie adaptation of Dune starring Orson Welles and Salvador Dali, kept Jodorowsky from making movies for 16 years until his triumphant return with SANTA SANGRE. Blanca Guerra, Guy Stockwell and the filmmaker’s sons Axel and Adan Jodorowsky star in this surreal epic about a young circus performer, the crime of passion that shatters his soul and the macabre journey back to the world of his armless mother and deaf-mute lover.

“This is a movie like none I have seen before,” wrote Roger Ebert in his original four-star review, “a wild kaleidoscope of images and outrages, a collision between Freud and Fellini. It contains blood and glory, saints and circuses, and unspeakable secrets of the night. And it is all wrapped up in a flamboyant parade of bold, odd, striking imagery, with Alejandro Jodorowsky as the ringmaster. SANTA SANGRE is a movie in which the inner chambers of the soul are laid bare.”

Levicitus Digital release

After releasing in theaters last month, NEON announced today that horror romance Leviticus will arrive on digital platforms to rent or own beginning July 28, followed by a Blu-ray/4K Ultra HD Combo and DVD release on September 8, 2026.

Leviticus marks the feature debut by writer/director Adrian Chiarella.

Joe Bird (Talk to Me) and Stacy Clausen play star-crossed teenage boys who must escape a violent entity that takes the form of the person they desire most — each other.

Mia Wasikowska (Crimson Peak), Jeremy BlewittEwen Leslie (The Nightingale), and Davida McKenzie (Silent Night) round out the cast of horror movie Leviticus.

Leviticus is a strong debut with an incisive voice at the helm,” I wrote in my review out of Sundance. “We care deeply about Naim and Ryan’s survival, making Leviticus a tense, atmospheric, and claustrophobic vision of young love in a hateful world.”

Leviticus is the perfect title for writer-director Adrian Chiarella‘s powerful feature debut,” Meagan’s review explains, “a searing anthem against the corrosive nature of fear and bigotry.”

The physical media release comes packed with exclusive bonus features, the home entertainment release includes a feature commentary with Adrian Chiarella, interviews with Chiarella, Stacy Clausen, and Joe Bird, an exclusive behind-the-scenes featurette, and the official trailer.

Look for Leviticus on Digital next week, and check out the box art for September’s Blu-ray release this September.
