‘ChromeSkull’ Gets Release Date

Published

on

Rob Hall’s ChromeSkull: Laid to Rest 2 (set report) is probably one of the most anticipated films of 2011 here at B-D, and today he sent along word that the official DVD/Blu-Ray release date is September 20, with screenings and festival showings beforehand. Image Entertainment will be distributing.

The film will also have a big presence at Texas Frightmare this weekend (April 29 – May 1), including the premiere of brand new footage on Friday night and a panel with Rob, Brian Austin Green, Nick Principie, Thomas Dekker, Angelina Armani, & Mimi Michaels on Saturday at 4 PM. The cast and crew will be giving away and signing the new poster and Chromeskull merch, and a prop will be raffled off too.

ChromeSkull: Laid to Rest 2 picks up three months after the end of the first film. Tommy (Dekker), who’s struggling with vivid memories of his first encounter with the masked killer, has been abducted by Preston (Green), who harbors a mysterious connection to ChromeSkull (Principe). Meanwhile, the technologically saavy slasher — he videotapes his victims as he’s killing them — has set his sights on Jess (Michaels), and after the young girl disappears, Detective King (Yeoman) races against time to find her and Tommy before it’s too late and try to put an end to ChromeSkull’s blood-soaked legacy.

Keith C. Blackmore’s book series Mountain Man is headed to the screen, with Deadline reporting today that Joe Manganiello (“True Blood”) is on board to star in the film adaptation.

The actor will also produce the upcoming zombie movie.

Mountain Man tells the story of Gus, a lonely post-apocalyptic survivor facing isolation and the ever-present specter of a zombie attack, who struggles with alcohol abuse and suicidal thoughts until he discovers another survivor, a captivating woman who poses another threat altogether.”

John Lee (False Positive) will direct Mountain Man from a script by Matt Deller.

“John is a brilliant creative mind. We’ve been looking for the right thing to do together since we filmed Pee Wee’s Big Holiday and it’s finally here,” 3:59’s Joe and Nick Manganiello told Deadline. “Very excited to get to work on such weird, wild project with him.”

Film Bridge International is launching sales on the project in Cannes.

Blackmore’s Mountain Man series features 7 books, the first one published in 2011.
