Bloody Disgusting Selects Acquires Horror Comedy ‘Chop’!
We have some very exciting news as Bloody Disgusting Selects is proud to announce the acquisition of Chop, the directorial debut of Deadgirl screenwriter and Troma alumni Trent Haaga, for VOD and DVD later this year!
I caught the film back in February and LOVED it. Here’s what I had to say: ” ‘Chop’ delivers on all sides by jam-packing the movie with laughs, gore and some insane twists that are guaranteed to get the room in a buzz…you owe it to yourself to watch this with a group of friends so you can all chatter about how f*cked it truly is.”
The pic, which carries a finale you have to see to believe, is “a revenge thriller with a comedic edge that centers on a seemingly innocent young couple, forced by a psychotic stranger to confront their duplicitous past.”
Chop was an official selection of the Boston Underground Film Festival, Amsterdam Fantastic Film Festival, Grimm Up North Film Festival and Dead by Dawn Film Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. It also received the “Director’s Choice Feature Award” at the Boston Underground Film Festival. It’ll be screening at the 6th Annual FantaSpoa Film Festival in Brazil in July.
Director Trent Haaga has been involved in over 50 feature films as an actor, screenwriter, and Producer including such titles as Hell Asylum, Bonnie & Clyde vs Dracula, and the cult hit Deadgirl.

Adam Wingard’s ‘Onslaught’ Receives ‘R’ Rating for Strong Bloody Violence and Sexual Material
Adam Wingard (You’re Next, The Guest) is getting back to his roots with the A24 movie Onslaught, and the film has received an ‘R’ rating from the MPA this week.
Releasing in theaters on September 4, Adam Wingard’s Onslaught is Rated ‘R’ for “Strong bloody violence, some gore, sexual material/nudity, and language.”
Watch the previously released Onslaught trailer below.
The duo behind The Guest, director Adam Wingard and writer Simon Barrett, are re-teaming for the upcoming Onslaught, which stars Adria Arjona in the leading role.
Here’s the synopsis: “When a rogue squad of genetically engineered super soldiers break loose in the desert, a badass Army sniper must unleash hell to protect her young daughter.”
Rebecca Hall (The Night House, Godzilla x Kong) and Dan Stevens (The Guest) also star in Adam Wingard’s upcoming new movie Onslaught alongside Michael Biehn, Reginald VelJohnson, Eric Wareheim, Drew Starkey, and Alex “Poatan” Pereira.
Wingard has spent the past several years making Hollywood blockbusters including Godzilla vs. Kong and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, and the idea behind Onslaught is to get back to his filmmaking roots. Onslaught looks very much in line with Wingard’s fan favorite The Guest, so much so that fans have been speculating that it’s set in the very same universe.
Dan Stevens starred alongside Maika Monroe in 2014 action-thriller The Guest. He played a mysterious ex-soldier with a secret agenda who wreaks havoc on a small town.
At the very least, The Guest and Onslaught look to be cut from the same cloth.
And yes, Dan Stevens is in both of them!
