Talk about bizarre, random timing. I am not exaggerating when I tell you that just an hour ago I was researching the alleged history of NASA’s Apollo missions. I enjoy a good conspiracy and the actual events surrounding the Apollo missions are straight up bizarre.

I think it’s exciting that director Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego took these alleged stories and turned it into a pretty cool looking feature arriving in theaters September 2. Inside you’ll find the full trailer for Apollo 18, the latest found footage horror film.

“Officially, Apollo 17, launched December 17th, 1972 was the last manned mission to the moon. But a year later, in December of 1973, two American astronauts were sent on a secret mission to the moon funded by the US Department of Defense. What you are about to see is the actual footage which the astronauts captured on that mission. While NASA denies its authenticity, others say it’s the real reason we’ve never gone back to the moon.”

I’m sure at some point I’ll collect all of my finding and share them with you guys, but the short version is this: NASA’s Apollo missions to the moon ended at 17 (claiming budgetary constraints). Oddly enough, the last few missions were focused on similar coordinates on the dark side of the moon (why focus on one specific area?). Online “evidence” (if that’s what you want to call it) purports that NASA continued through Apollo 20 investigating structures millions of years old. Interested? Google it. It’s fun(ny?) stuff.
