Chloe Moretz Says ‘Dark Shadows’ In The Vein Of ‘Beetlejuice’, ‘Sleepy Hollow’
Yesterday in the world of Dark Shadows you got a look at some pictures of Johnny Depp in character as Barnabus Collins.
Today Chloe Moretz, who plays Carolyn Stoddard in the film, chimes in to Movies.com about her character and the film’s tone, “Oh, Carolyn, that’s a fun character. That’s a really fun character. She is crazy. She is this teenager, like 15-year-old hippie who is into The Carpenters and Alice Cooper. She’s super music-y and raw, like free love, you know. She’s fun. I can’t say much because he has a really dark secret I can’t tell you… It’s Tim Burton so it’s like ‘Beetlejuice’. I have to say it’s a mixture of ‘Beetlejuice’, a teeny bit of ‘Sweeney’ and the scariness of ‘Sweeney’ but the fun of ‘Sleepy Hollow’ with the scariness of ‘Sleepy Hollow’. I’d definitely say it’s a lot like ‘Sleepy Hollow’ because you go from the Ichabod Crane character to the Headless Horseman who’s comedic and yet terrifying. It straddles that fine line of camp and drama so it’s like a drama horromedy thriller”

Deadline details, “the English-language film will tell the story of a group of people, including two young women, who are trapped upside down on a roller coaster taken over by a mysterious saboteur threatening to drop them all one-by-one to their deaths.”
Film Bridge International is launching the project for sales ahead of the Cannes market.
Chad Law and Christopher Jolley wrote the screenplay.
“Thrill Ride is exactly the type of high-concept based thriller that our customers are looking for in the marketplace,” said Film Bridge’s Ellen Wander and Jordan Dykstra. “With Ryuhei at the helm, we know his vision and execution will deliver thrills of the highest quality.”
“As a hardcore rollercoaster fan since I was young, I immediately fell in love with this script filled with suspense, action, crazy ups and downs, turns, loops, and corkscrews at maximum speed,” adds Kitamura. “I can’t wait to get on a ride and bring life to the wildest rollercoaster imaginable.”
