Dan Aykroyd Promises ‘Ghostbusters 2’ Blu-ray, Teases Extras

Published

on

Sony hates us when it comes to home video. They’ve dumped greats like the [REC] films on DVD (no Blu-ray), and even used a damaged transfer of Ghostbusters for that HD release (without ever fixing it). Now, years after being pulled from release, Sony Home Entertainment is finally slated to release Ghostbusters 2 on Blu-ray.

Dan Aykroyd revealed on Twitter that the long-gestured HD release is “definitely” coming and will rock a few new extras including a commentary track. While this is exciting news, it would be nice if they provided a “new” transfer of the first film so we don’t have to watch half of it with discolored pixels draping the picture.

In Ghostbusters 2, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson make the discovery of a massive river of ectoplasm and a resurgence of spectral activity allows the staff of Ghostbusters to revive the business.
