[TV] Robert Kirkman To Bring His Upcoming Exorcism Comic To The Tube
Robert Kirkman (“The Walking Dead”), is teaming with executive producer David Alpert, Fox International Channels and his Image Comics imprint Circle of Confusion to bring a new drama to TV screens sometime soon. Per THR, “the potential series is based on Kirkman’s upcoming comic series set in the world of exorcism.”
The currently untitled show, “centers on Kyle Barnes, who has been plagued by possession since he was a child. Now an adult, he embarks on a spiritual journey to find answers but what he uncovers could mean the end of life on Earth as we know it.”
Kirkman said in a statement, ““Sharon Tal Yguado and the entire team at Fox International Channels have been instrumental in making The Walking Dead the worldwide success that it has become. I couldn’t resist the opportunity to continue working with this forward-thinking and extremely talented group.”
I’m not sure about you, but aren’t exorcism movies enough of a slow burn? I sure hope they don’t dial back the pace even more to make it fit for TV.
Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) is staying busy here in 2024, directing not only the werewolf movie Big Bad but also an upcoming thriller titled Drop.
The project for Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes is being described as a “fast-paced thriller,” and Deadline reports today that Violett Beane (Truth or Dare) has joined the cast.
Newcomer Jacob Robinson has also signed on to star in the mysterious thriller. Previously announced, Meghann Fahy (“White Lotus”) will be leading the cast.
Landon recently teased on Twitter, “This is my love letter to DePalma.”
Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach wrote the script.
Michael Bay, Jason Blum, Brad Fuller and Cameron Fuller — “who brought the script in to Platinum Dunes” — are producing the upcoming Drop. Sam Lerner is an executive producer.
THR notes, “The film is a Platinum Dunes and Blumhouse production for Universal.”
