[TV] Images From “Bates Motel” Episode 1.02, “Nice Town You Picked, Norma”

I was a huge fan of A&E’s premiere episode of “Bates Motel,” which has since gone online here for those who missed it.

In episode 1.01, “First You Dream, Then You Die,” “After the tragic death of her husband, Norma Bates (Vera Farmiga) buys a motel on the outskirts of an idyllic coastal town seeking a fresh start. Her handsome and shy teenage son Norman (Freddie Highmore) quickly catches the eyes of the local girls, much to his mother’s horror. Norma and Norman soon discover the idyllic town isn’t what it seems.

We now have a stack of images from episode 1.02, “Nice Town You Picked, Norma.” In the episode, Dylan immediately begins causing trouble; the Bates are drawn into the secrets surrounding White Pine Bay.

A&E’s “Bates Motel,” from executive producers Carlton Cuse (“Lost”) and Kerry Ehrin (“Friday Night Lights”), is a contemporary prequel to the genre-defining film Psycho and promises to give viewers an intimate portrayal of how Norman Bates’ psyche unravels through his teenage years. Fans will have access to the dark, twisted backstory of Norman Bates and how deeply intricate his relationship with his mother, Norma, truly is.

So far a major thumbs up. It took me 3 episodes to really get behind “American Horror Story,” which has since become my favorite show. The fact this impressed after only one is eyebrow raising.
