6 Horror Games We Want On Next Gen Consoles!

Resident Evil: Revelations 2

Resident Evil: Revelations was a breath of fresh air that fans of the series so desperately needed. It marked a return to the atmosphere and palpable dread that permeated Resident Evil 4, the most critically acclaimed game in the series, and it also managed to be seriously unnerving.

Capcom wasn’t very successful in their attempt to “capture” the Call of Duty gamer with Resident Evil 6, a game that was panned by an overwhelming majority of fans and critics when it released October. This, paired with a massive drop-off in sales, seems to have inspired them to consider another reboot of the series with the next installment, which is most definitely in the works right now. I’ve lost a lot of faith in Capcom’s ability make scary games, but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t love a chance to return to the Queen Zenobia in a sequel to Revelations.

Many of my issues with the Revelations port stemmed from the fact that it was a port (the controls, visuals, lack of co-op in the campaign, etc.) so if Capcom builds a sequel for home consoles, I’m hoping many of those problems will be remedied.

F.E.A.R. 4

Last week, a free-to-play and online-only entry in the F.E.A.R. series was unveiled, titled F.E.A.R. Online. Saying it was met with a mixed reception would be kind. Not many of you seem to care about this new way to play F.E.A.R., but I’m sure that won’t stop them from milking the franchise until there isn’t much left of it that’s recognizable to fans.

This could go one of two ways. F.E.A.R. Online could fail miserably, placing one more nail in the series’ coffin. Or, it could be successful enough to inspire interest in another game.

Whether this would be F.E.A.R. 4 (okay, let’s face it, it’s going to be called F.E.4.R.) or something else remains to be seen. I hope it’s the latter, because while the last game wasn’t scary in the least, it was still quite a bit of fun.

Also, I don’t have anything against F.E.A.R. Online. In fact, I’m more than a little intrigued by it. I’m not an avid supporter of online-only games, and especially ones that only offer a multiplayer, but I’ve enjoyed a few of the F.E.A.R. multiplayer modes enough to be willing to check this one out when the beta starts rolling out.
