‘Upper’ Has Distribution and a New Trailer
A theatrical trailer has been released for the found-footage Upper (The Upper Footage), which will be released by OnlineTheatrical.com next month.
Explains the release, “Online Theatrical will be working with us to release the film digitally in a unique format. The set up is less like VOD and more like a live PPV event, with a set time a limited viewing window. The film will have a 3-week run starting on November 21st and only be shown at midnight in every US time zone.”

The film is an edited version of 393 minutes of recovered footage documenting a young girl’s tragic overdose death and subsequent cover up by a group of affluent socialites. What started as a blackmail plot played out over YouTube, became Hollywood’s biggest drug scandal, turned into a heavily controversial film property that was rumored to be held by some of the biggest names in Hollywood. Now, after playing itself out in the media for 3 years it is finally making its way to the public.”

A24 is expecting to ship out Backrooms physical media orders in late August.
Chiwetel Ejiofor stars in Backrooms as the owner of Cap’n Clark’s Ottoman Empire, who discovers a strange doorway in the basement of the furniture showroom. He sets out to explore the mysterious, liminal space, walking headfirst into a creepypasta nightmare.
Renate Reinsve (A Different Man) also stars in Backrooms.
Meagan wrote in her review, “Backrooms is at once complex and sparse, but never repetitive. It might be set in 1990, but it effectively captures modern anxieties and isolation in a way that frequently makes your skin crawl. While the journey ultimately loses steam by its cryptic end, Parsons’ visual representation of the human psyche disturbs like no other.”
YouTube prodigy Kane Parsons makes his feature directorial debut based on his creepypasta-inspired video series, which debuted in 2022 and has amassed over 190 million views to date.
