Matt Cohen’s Paranormal is an amazing horror game. It’s best described as Paranormal Activity: The Game, only better, because every time you play offers a unique experience thanks to the randomly generated hauntings. One night you may witness bloody footprints appearing on a wall, hear strange noises in the kitchen, or see a door slam in your face while a mannequin might straight up break your neck another night.

Now, this isn’t a definitive list, because I’m just one person and there are literally hundreds, if not thousands, of indie horror games out there. If you feel I missed something, feel free to share your picks in the comments below. But before you do that, here are a few that almost made the list.
An honorable mention goes out to SCP: Containment Breach, the only game that can make blinking scary. Cry of Fear and Grey are both very similar and worthy of recognition. The latter is a blend of Condemned and Silent Hill, and you can see it in action here. I’d also like to call out Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs. It might not have lived up to the high bar set by its predecessor, but it’s still a fantastic horror game that’s well worth your time.
And this list isn’t in any particular order, so please don’t complain that one game ranks higher than another. Everything here is equal as far as this list is concerned.
