Composer Jim Wilson decided to record a bunch of crickets and then slow them down to the point that their voices sounded almost human-like. Admittedly, it’s pretty obvious that they were arranged and maneuvered into a specific pattern, so that they harmonized with each other. This creates the choir-like effect, which makes it sound very unique.
Wilson states, “I discovered that when I slowed down this recording to various levels, this simple familiar sound began to morph into something very mystic and complex…almost human.”
