The 2010 Clash of the Titans 3-D remake was awful, and it’s sequel, Wrath of the Titans, was even worse. Being a huge fan of Desmond Davis’s 1981 classic, I think I’m done with Warner Bros. attempting to revive this franchise. It’s time to move on. Thankfully Basil Iwanyk, who produced both Clash and Wrath, says the planned trilogy may have turned to stone (for now).
“In terms of Clash of the Titans 3, it’s one of those situations where we’ve seen it a million times; a movie will kind of float away and then come back when it’s supposed to come back,” he tells IGN. “You’d think that there was three and a half, four years of nonstop Clash of the Titans activity, and I think it is, ‘Okay, what’s the new idea? How do you make it fresh?’ You know, a lot of movies have come out in that world, including Immortals and 300. So there will be a time and place where someone will come up with a great idea for it and how to make it feel different and fresh from the previous ones. Then we’ll hopefully move forward on that.”
While both movies are just terrible, they were both pretty massive box office hits worldwide. Thus, I think it’s safe to say the adventures of Perseus (Sam Worthington) could just be beginning…
