XYZ Films has picked up worldwide sales rights to writer/director Christopher Denham’s latest horror/thriller Preservation, sources tell Bloody Disgusting. The film stars Wrenn Schmidt (“Boardwalk Empire”), Aaron Staton (“Mad Men”) and Pablo Schreiber (“The Brink”), with Jennifer Dubin and Cora Olson of Present Pictures producing, and executive producing duties handled by Connie Cummings and Anne Renton of Certainty Films. Preservation will be introduced to buyers by XYZ Films at the European Film Market in February.
“In the film, Wit (Schmidt), a brainy anesthesiologist, heads out on a hunting trip in a forest preserve with her husband Mike (Staton), a hedge fund manager, and his brother Sean (Schreiber), a former marine. But when the brothers are stalked and captured, Wit must unleash her own animal instincts or else end up a trophy.”
Denham recently wrote and directed the critically-acclaimed Home Movie for which he won the Citizen Kane award for “Best New Director” at the Sitges International Film Festival and the Silver Audience Award at Toronto Afterdark Film Festival. Additionally, he appeared in Ben Affleck’s Academy Award-winning Argo, for which he received a SAG Award for Best Ensemble Performance.
