The ending of Resident Evil 5, along with a majority of the rest of the game, is goddamn bonkers. Granted, you could use that word to describe much of this franchise, but that ending? In a volcano? Where you survived a plane crash? In a volcano? And that bit where you punched a boulder — which probably weighed about as much as a gaggle of Volkswagens — because physics are for little babies? In a volcano?
Do I need to say more?
In Resident Evil 4, we were introduced to the Regenerator, a terrifying hell creature whose image haunts me to this day. Remember when you shot off its arms and it grew them back? Or when you stupidly shot off its legs and walked up to it ready to deal the final blow, only to have it pounce on you, burying its mouthful of kitchen knives into your neck?
There are few things I loved about Resident Evil 6, but if I had to come up with a list, the Rasklapanje would claim two of the top three. It’s like a slimier and infinitely more grotesque version of the Regenerator, and god forbid you shoot off its hands, because as soon as that happens it becomes even more frustrating to fight. Unlike its freakier cousin, when this guy loses a limb, that limb gets angry and comes at you with a hunger for vengeance.
I used to play Resident Evil 6, but then I took one too many severed hands to the face.
The Resident Evil series has given us a bevy of costumes over the years, and when a franchise is as old as this one, there are going to be a few highlights.
Leon threw on a sweet scarf in his portrayal of a dapper gangster, Sheva discovered a fondness for naughty woodland creatures when she dressed as a sexy leopard, and Chris showed us how tones his thighs are when he slid into a pair of (really) short shorts. That hat really brings the whole ensemble together, I think.
Those are just a few of the examples, I’m sure you get the idea.
