IFC Gives Birth to ‘Proxy’ Release Date
The loss of a baby would make anyone go crazy…
XYZ announced tonight an April 18 release for Zack Parker’s Proxy, which was acquired by IFC Midnight out of TIFF 2013 (read our review). The film will debut on various VOD platforms before its DVD release.
Alexia Rasmussen, Alexa Havins, Halloween‘s Kristina Klebe, and The Sacrament and V/H/S‘ Joe Swanberg all star.
“A very pregnant Esther Woodhouse (Rasmussen) is walking home after her latest OB appointment, when she is brutally attacked and disfigured by a hooded assailant. When Esther seeks consolation in a support group, she finds friendship and empathy in Melanie (Havins), another mother scarred with tragedy. Esther soon begins to believe that the horrific event might be a bittersweet act of fate. However, friendship and empathy can be very dangerous things when accepted by the wrong people.“

‘Her Private Hell’ Gets a New Poster Celebrating the Film’s ‘R’ Rating
Sophie Thatcher stars in Nicolas Winding Refn’s new genre movie Her Private Hell, and a brand new official poster has been released by distributor NEON this afternoon.
The new poster celebrates the MPA rating the film received this week. Her Private Hell is rated ‘R’ for “some strong/bloody violence, sexual content, and language.”
Nicolas Winding Refn’s Her Private Hell will be released in theaters July 24 via Neon.
In the film, when a mysterious mist engulfs a futuristic metropolis, unleashing a deadly and elusive entity, a troubled young woman searches for her father. Her quest collides with an American GI on a harrowing odyssey to rescue his daughter from Hell.
Sophie Thatcher (“Yellowjackets”), Charles Melton (“Riverdale”), Kristine Froseth (How to Blow Up a Pipeline), Havana Rose Liu (No Exit), and Diego Calva (Babylon) star.
The ensemble also includes Dougray Scott (Hitman), Aoi Yamada (Perfect Days), Shioli Kutsuna (Deadpool & Wolverine), and Hidetoshi Nishijima (Shin Ultraman).
Nicolas Winding Refn directs Her Private Hell from a script he co-wrote with Esti Giordani (“Vida”). Pino Donaggio (Carrie, Don’t Look Now) composed the score.
Refn produces under his byNWR Originals banner. Executive producers include Takuma Takasaki, Kimberly Willming, Christina Erritzøe, and Lene Børglum.
