Black Fawn Set To Release ‘Discopath’ on DVD
After selling out its World Premiere at the Fantasia International Film Festival, DISCOPATH has travelled the world leaving its ‘70s era disco stamp on festivals from Brazil to Brussels. Now, the Canadian horror feature has found a home on DVD through Black Fawn Distribution. Durango Pictures has awarded the Canadian home video rights for the award winning slasher DISCOPATH to Black Fawn Distribution, to be released on DVD in Canada on June 10th, while Juice Distribution will release the film through iTunes on April 29th.
In the debut feature film from director Renaud Gauthier, a timid young New Yorker in the mid-70s leads an uneventful life until he is fatefully exposed to the pulsating rhythms of a brand-new genre of music: Disco! Unable to control his murderous impulses that stem from a traumatic childhood experience, Duane Lewis transforms into a dangerous serial killer exiled to Montreal.
DISCOPATH celebrated its World Premiere at the 2013 Fantasia International Film Festival followed by numerous other festival screenings around the world including Beyond Fest (Los Angeles), Fright Fest (London, UK) and The Blood in the Snow Film Fest (Toronto) where it took home Best Film, Best Actor and Best Screenplay honors.
“We went to see DISCOPATH because of the buzz it had received,” states Black Fawn Distribution’s Sales Manager CF Benner. “We were literally blown away because it’s a very unique film experience. It’s dark, it’s funny, and you’ll find it hard to wrap your head around the fact that this film wasn’t made over 30 years ago. Renaud’s attention to detail is really quite amazing and we knew right away that we
wanted horror fans everywhere to experience DISCOPATH the same way we did.”
Critically acclaimed for its realistic feel and setting, reviewers have been quick to point out DISCOPATH’s authentic presentation and dark comedic framework.
“Amidst a sea of films attempting to recapture the glories of bygone exploitation fare, DISCOPATH gets it right,” says Michael Gingold of Fangoria while AintItCool.com declared that “DISCOPATH is fun from kooky start to its absolutely batshit finish.”
The DISCOPATH DVD will include the following bonus features:
– Commentary by Director Renaud Gauthier
– Behind the Scenes Feature
– Music Player Featuring Songs From the Film

‘Brine’ – Jennifer Holland Starring in Supernatural Civil War Thriller
Jennifer Holland (“Peacemaker”) and Dave Annable (“Lioness”) will lead the cast of upcoming supernatural Civil War thriller Brine, Deadline reports this afternoon.
B.J. Golnick (“Hunting Hitler”) will be directing Brine.
Brine follows a family of Confederate deserters who escape the Union bombardment of Fort Pulaski with a cache of stolen gold and disappear into the Georgia marshlands.
When they take refuge in a remote plantation house, what first appears to be salvation slowly reveals itself as part of something ancient, predatory and impossible to escape.
Jonah Wharton (Lioness), Sissy Sheridan (Chicken Girls), and Grayson Lay (Outer Banks) also star. The screenplay was written by B.J. Golnick and Jeremy Miller.
“Brine is a story about survival, but it is also a story about inheritance…The violence we pass down, the myths we create to justify it, and the cost of trying to break free,” Golnick previews.
“We intend for the film to feel intimate, historically grounded and deeply unnerving, as if the supernatural elements weren’t invented, but unearthed from the marsh itself.”
