Andrez Bergen has a Kickstarter set up for a 130-page graphic novel adaptation of his novel, “Tobacco-Stained Mountain Goat”, which received wide critical acclaim back in 2011. The story takes place in a dystopic Melbourne and plays on the typical noir setup of with the hardboiled protagonist, Floyd Maquina, who unwillingly finds himself up against the cities biggest, and most dangerous, players.The book draws upon a wide range of influences including Raymond Chandler, Dashiell Hammett, Neville Shute, Philip K. Dick, Ray Bradbury, Graham Greene, and filmmakers Satoshi Kon, Carol Reed, John Huston and Akira Kurosawa. That’s a lot of influences.
The project has already been successfully funded with a little under a month to go. You can snag a digital copy of the book for only $5.00 AUD. Because they already received funding, they have moved from 50% colour pages to 75%.
