More On ‘Terminator’s’ Parallel Universe

Published

on

Back in March we reported on the new Terminator, which allegedly revisits scenes from its predecessors.

Our friends at Hitfix address these stories, confirming them with an interesting bit of new information. Prepare for a doozy of a spoiler.

There is a scene in the script where, literally, we see the scene from the first TERMINATOR film where Arnold steps out, the punks threaten him, he rips Bill Paxton’s heart out and takes his clothes and wanders off. And as soon as that scene ends, another Arnold Schwarzenegger who is older and beared and a very different version of the Terminator walks in from the side and plays another scene right at the scene of that first incident.

While Brian Thompson is actually the one who gets their heart ripped out, this is still some pretty cool news. While it feels a bit on the nose and obvious of a direction for a time travel film, it’s not that easy to pull off. I’m excited to see what Alan Taylor is able to do with the quasi-reboot in theaters July 1, 2015.

In addition, we just received a press release announcing that “Doctor Who” star Matt Smith will be joining Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, Dayo Okeniji, J.K. Simmons, Sandrine Holt, Byung-hun Lee, and Jai Courtney in the film!

Smith will play a new character with a strong connection to John Connor, we’re told.

Robert Eggers (The Witch, Nosferatu) is back later this year with new horror movie Werwulf, and the very first teaser image from the hotly anticipated movie has surfaced tonight.

Oddly enough, this first look comes courtesy of the NBC Store, and it gives us a glimpse at a chilly Winter landscape from the film. Is there a werewolf hiding in the photo? Maybe…

Set in 13th century England, Werwulf sees a mysterious creature stalk the land as local folklore becomes a terrifying reality. The film hits theaters on December 25 via Focus Features.

Robert Eggers recently teased, “It’s the darkest thing I’ve ever written. By far.”

Eggers directs from a script he penned with his The Northman co-writer Sjón.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Nosferatu), Lily-Rose Depp (Nosferatu), Willem Dafoe (The Lighthouse), Ralph Ineson (The Witch), and Bodhi Rae Breathnach (Hamnet) star.

Robert Eggers and Sjón produce alongside Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner for Working Title. Maiden Voyage’s Chris Columbus and Eleanor Columbus are executive producing.
