[TV] “The Walking Dead” Casts Possible Preacher
The actor, who played Ellis Carver on the HBO drama for its entire five-season run, becomes the third “Wire” alum to join the AMC series based on Robert Kirkman’s best-selling graphic novels. Chad Coleman (Tyreese) and Larry Gilliard Jr. (Bob) also count “The Wire” among their credits and Kirkman is a big fan of the series.
Details on just who Gilliam will play on “Walking Dead” are being kept under wraps. The casting breakdown described the character as “friendly with a puckish demeanor who also has a haunted side.“
Given the casting description and where the zombie drama is creatively, THR’s best educated guess is that Gilliam is playing Gabriel Stokes, a preacher who first crosses paths with Rick in the 61st issue of the comics — just before the rag-tag survivors encounter the Hunters (aka the cannibals). Not long afterward, Gabriel soon shares the dark lengths he went to in order to ensure his survival and becomes a member of Rick’s community.
Gilliam becomes the latest series regular to board “The Walking Dead,” which has already started production on season five. Andrew J. West (Gareth), Alanna Masterson (Tara) and Christian Serratos (Rosita) were all promoted to regulars for season five in March after recurring in season four.
“The Walking Dead” returns for its fifth season in October.

Robert Eggers (The Witch, Nosferatu) is back later this year with new horror movie Werwulf, and the very first teaser image from the hotly anticipated movie has surfaced tonight.
Oddly enough, this first look comes courtesy of the NBC Store, and it gives us a glimpse at a chilly Winter landscape from the film. Is there a werewolf hiding in the photo? Maybe…
Set in 13th century England, Werwulf sees a mysterious creature stalk the land as local folklore becomes a terrifying reality. The film hits theaters on December 25 via Focus Features.

Eggers directs from a script he penned with his The Northman co-writer Sjón.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Nosferatu), Lily-Rose Depp (Nosferatu), Willem Dafoe (The Lighthouse), Ralph Ineson (The Witch), and Bodhi Rae Breathnach (Hamnet) star.
