This ‘Ghost In The Shell’ Photo Shoot Could Be Its Own Movie

A few weeks ago we posted an article about The Akira Project, which was a group of people who created a faux movie trailer for a live action Akira film. That article exploded – almost like Neo Tokyo (ZING) – and showed just how much love that film still commands.

Another widely revered film that challenged the conventions of anime was the 1995 film Ghost In The Shell, directed by Mamoru Oshii and based upon the works of Masamune Shirow. Visually beautiful and complete with a complex, engaging storyline (that hugely inspired films like The Matrix), the film went on to become a cult hit.

Photographers Ash Thorp and Tim Tadder wanted to pay tribute to this film by creating a photo shoot that would do the visuals justice. And, based upon the video they’ve uploaded that goes over the whole process, I’d say they succeeded! You can watch the NSFW video below and then check out the photo gallery here.
