The Original ‘RoboCop’ Has the Best Ending Ever

Just the other day I went on a rant about how much I hate epilogues, and referenced the 1987 RoboCop as an example of a movie with a perfect ending.

Well, today marks the 27th anniversary of Paul Verhoeven’s classic that starred Peter Weller as the title character, which means I get to share said finale with you!.

The sci-fi horror takes place in a dystopic and crime-ridden Detroit where a terminally wounded cop (Weller) returns to the force as a powerful cyborg haunted by submerged memories.

There’s nothing more satisfying than RoboCop‘s conclusion in which Dick Jones (Ronny Cox) reminds RoboCop that he can’t hurt an employee of Omni Corp. The hostage then exclaims, “Dick, you’re fired,” which allows RoboCop to fill Jones with a round of bullets sending him through a window!

Thank you,” says Murphy.

THE. FUCKING. END.
