These 90’s ‘Quake’ Ads Are Hilariously Misleading

Back in 1996, just a few months before Resident Evil came and blew all our minds, id Software released Quake. It was a gory, hyper-violent shooter that dropped players in a labyrinthine environment with the simple goal of mowing down every monster that was dumb enough to get in the way. If you’ve been a gamer for any significant amount of time, you probably already know this.

If you weren’t familiar with the game, these somewhat misleading magazine ads from the late 90’s may have lead you to believe that Quake is a family game fit for all ages. Unless grandma has a strong stomach, it probably isn’t.
