[TV] They’ve Talked About Rebooting “The X-Files”

I want to believe.

FOX’s “The X-Files” comes up a lot in my life. It’s one of the inspirations for V/H/S, and is the subject of many conversations about modern technology, aliens, and even conspiracy theories. Frankly, the show would make a lot of sense in the modern world – whether they continue Mulder and Scully’s story, or reboot it completely. Watching this black ops government group handle coverups with Twitter, YouTube and iPhones would be spectacular, and allow for so many new story lines. Hopefully the top brass at FOX realize this, which it sounds is the case.

In an interview with “The X-Files” creator Chris Carter, Vulture squeezed out this juicy bit.

I’m very friendly with Gary [Newman] and Dana [Walden],” he said. “Dana and I basically cut our teeth at the same time. She was a publicist. It’s nice to go through your career with someone you have respect for and were in the trenches with. Dana and I sat in the same room during the first market testing of ‘The X-Files.’ She was like a junior publicist, and I was this unproven producer. She was there at the beginning. So I owe her a lot. And certainly she and I have talked a lot about this.

When asked if that’s a way of saying a reboot is happening, he responded: “That’s just a way of saying there certainly have been conversations.

So why hasn’t it happened yet? “I would assume nothing…

“The X-Files” is always the subject of many rumors, and also one that many of said rumors come into fruition. The team remain close friends, so I would expect to see new life for “The X-Files” in the near future. Watch this spot as developments occur.
