Legendary Pictures concluded their San Diego Comic-Con panel with footage that everyone expected to be from Jurassic World. However, the footage was actually a surprise announcement – they’re already hard at work on new King Kong film entitled Skull Island!
The island, named for the skull-like rock formations, first appeared in the 1933 King Kong.
Legendary revealed that the film will hit theaters November 4, 2016, and allegedly will feature Kong in some capacity (there were multiple apes featured in the footage). Fans of the King will recall that Skull Island is loaded with primitive creatures and could lead to some epic battles. May we even se Godzilla?
Guillermo del Toro, who was on hand to show Crimson Peak footage, is already rumored to be directing.
Although unconfirmed, this isn’t related to Peter Jackson’s King Kong reboot from 2005.
The big story is that Legendary is clearly building up to a massive battle between King Kong and Godzilla. Who would win?
