‘The Mummy’ Reboot Unwraps a Director
Writer/Producers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman look to have become two of the most powerful people in Hollywood.
Orci somehow convinced Paramount Pictures to let him direct Star Trek 3, with no experience, and now Kurtzman is getting the keys to the Universal Monster’s castle.
Kurtzman is in final negotiations to direct Universal’s reboot of The Mummy, writes Heat Vision.
Explains the site, Kurtzman, who with former writing partner Roberto Orci wrote some of the biggest franchise players in the last decade, is already producing the movie with Chris Morgan. Kurtzman and Morgan are weaving together a cinematic universe for Universal based on its movie monsters properties, and Mummy is due to be the first one out of the gate, having a release date of May 22, 2016.
The movie is important as it will set the tone and stage for the rest of the universe.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but it’s understood that the new Mummy is set in the present and is not a horror play but rather an action-adventure tentpole with horror elements. It will also feature new characters and not rehash previous incarnations, they add.
Jon Spaihts worked on the script, as did Kurtzman and Orci.
The killer tomatoes are back in Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: Organic Intelligence, and the offiical poster for the brand new movie has been unleashed tonight.
Additionally, we’ve learned that the film’s theatrical release is set for this August, with a panel set for San Diego Comic-Con this month featuring the world premiere of the trailer.

Attack of the Killer Tomatoes co-creators Costa Dillon and J. Stephen Peace return to write and executive produce. David Ferino directs.
The film features an ensemble cast led by franchise icon John Astin (The Addams Family), reprising his role as Professor Gangreen, comedy legend David Koechner (Anchorman), Academy Award nominee Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight), horror favorite Catherine Corcoran (Terrifier), comedy veteran Dan Bakkedahl (Veep), Myrna Velasco (Star Wars Resistance), Vernée Watson (Shrinking, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air), and Paul Bates (Coming to America).
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes launched in 1979, followed by 1988’s Return of the Killer Tomatoes, 1991’s Killer Tomatoes Strike Back, and 1992’s Killer Tomatoes Eat France.
The franchise also spawned an animated series in 1990.
