The post-apocalyptic indie horror game Contagion just got a pretty substantial update. For the unfamiliar, Contagion is a multiplayer horror game with cooperative and competitive modes where you’re tasked with surviving in a world infested with zombies. It went weirdly under the radar for most folks. If you’ve been patiently waiting for Capcom to return to their long dormant Resident Evil Outbreak series, this game manages to scratch that itch.
This latest update brings with it two new maps — a remake of the popular Zombie Panic: Source Biotec map and another called Stone Creek — as well as an improved melee system that should hopefully make the hand-to-hand combat feel a bit more satisfying. Gore hounds should be pleased to hear that you can also now decapitate the undead with bladed weapons.
I called Contagion “a gory, addictive horror game that’s well worth its $20 price tag” in my review.
