‘Creep’ to Be Released As a Trilogy?!

Published

on

Imagine an anthology of sorts, only there are three films, all released in the same year. It’s not the first time this has been done – see the Red Riding trilogy – but Blumhouse plans to release the festival fav Creep, along with two sequels, all next year. Sounds crazy, no?

Readers and various press appear to be either loving or hating Patrick Brice’s found-footage film that stars mumblecore legend Mark Duplass as a deranged lunatic. We here at Bloody have two rave reviews, with both Patrick Cooper and myself strongly disliking the film. We’ll call it even.

Collider caught up with Duplass, who is behind the classic Baghead, looking for an update. What they learned came as a shock.

“Mhmm. Ah, yeah, I’m gonna be shooting the second ‘Creep’ film at the end of the year and the cast will be revealed soon … I’m really excited about it because there’s a good chance that all three of them will release next year. We’re gonna try to line them all up…

For me it’s, if you can spend a dollar marketing one movie, why don’t you let that dollar work for all three of them and that way you can spend a lot more and get the movie out there?”

In the film, a videographer answers a Craigslist ad for a one-day job in a remote mountain town, and finds his client is not at all what he initially seems. The sequels would presumably show another tape, you know, like the V/H/S films.
