Mark Morgan’s ‘Stasis’ Score is as Beautiful as it is Haunting

Mark Morgan is a name that should be familiar to Fallout fans, as he composed the (fantastic) soundtracks for the first two Fallout games, as well as New Vegas. Morgan’s next project is Stasis, a 2D isometric sci-fi horror game that blends elements of Alien, Dead Space and even a little Mass Effect. I spent some time with its demo back in March and was immediately drawn in by the stellar sound design, because it really completes the creepy, futuristic world Chris Bischoff has created.

In the latest video update, we’re given a painfully brief preview of Morgan’s soundtrack for Stasis. According to Bischoff, with the score, “the idea was to have a strong melody base around a lullaby.”

“Instead of focusing on scene based music, we’re using the score to accentuate John’s emotions. HOPE, FEAR, TERROR: these are the central themes for the music of Stasis.” Now I suggest you set aside four minutes, turn off the lights, get a pair of headphones and really soak it up.
