‘Doom’ Creator Working On New Shooter Game

Published

on

John Romero, co-founder of famed developer id Software, designer on games like Doom and Wolfenstein 3D, and the guy who’s largely credited with coining the term “deathmatch” has announced he’s working on a number of new games, with one of them being a brand new first person shooter. Romero made the big reveal during an episode of the Joystiq podcast, where he said “I haven’t made a shooter since 2000. So I’m basically starting to work on another one.”

Romero’s last shooter was Daikatana, which released to middling reviews back in 2000 and has a legacy that largely revolves around the infamous claim that with it, Romero would make us his bitch. There certainly isn’t a shortage of shooters out there right now, but even still, I’m looking forward to seeing what Romero has in store for us.
