In a post on the Steam Greenlight page for their upcoming survival horror game Routine, indie developer Lunar Software offered an update on the progress they’ve made since their last update back in February. It sounds like development is going well, despite some motion sickness caused by playtesting the game on Oculus Rift dev kits.
The developer also confirmed that Routine will not be releasing on Steam Early Access. Their plan is to release the full game when it’s ready.
I find this refreshing. I’m not against Early Access, I think using community feedback can have a very positive impact on a game. But lately, it’s felt like every other indie game that releases on Steam is arriving on Early Access first so the developers can tweak and patch them with incremental updates. It’ll be nice to get an indie horror game that’s actually finished, or as close to finished as a game can get, when it arrives.
Routine doesn’t have a release date, but it’s expected to come to Steam sometime later this year.
