2012’s The Woman in Black was the UK’s highest-grossing horror film in 20 years. The question over a sequel was a no-brainer and now here’s the first teaser.
Angel of Death is set 40 years after the first film, with War Horse‘s Jeremy Irvine taking the reins (get it?) from Daniel Radcliffe. The film revolves around a group of evacuated children who awaken the evil spirit within Eel Marsh House. Tom Harper (The Borrowers) directs and Phoebe Fox co-stars.
I really liked the thick gothic atmosphere of the first one, but I wish it was embellished more in favor of jump scares. There’s not to much to go on in this unimpressive teaser, though it’s full of standard haunted house fare like creepy dolls and a rocking chair going by itself. Here’s hoping they’re able to inject a little more originality in the finished product than what we’re seeing here.
