Fans of AMC’s The Walking Dead have long debated the sexuality of Daryl Dixon, mainly due to his lack of love interests in the show and his general disinterest in women. In the letter section of issue 130 of the comic series, fans asked creator Robert Kirkman to address the issue. According to Digital Spy, Kirkman responded:
“All I can say is that it’s been discussed,” he said. “We have very specific ideas about Daryl’s sexuality (or the seeming lack thereof), and if there’s ever a quiet period in the show where he’s not consistently distracted by crossbowing… we’ll tackle it in the show.”
Asked if AMC would allow Daryl to be gay, he added: “For the record, they absolutely would.”
This doesn’t really answer the question, but hints at a possible coming-out episode, or one where he bones down with a woman.
Either way, the fifth season of The Walking Dead begins Sunday October 12, at 9pm.
