I need to see Chappie like right now.
Sony Pictures Entertainment has just released the second trailer for the sci-fi thriller that hails from writer-director Neill Blomkamp of District 9 fame.
It basically looks like a modern day take on Short Circuit (with a hint of RoboCop), only this time the protagonist with a mullet is Hugh Jackman.
My favorite part about this trailer is when Chappie goes all gangsta at the hands Ninja and Yolandi Visser, voices of the South African Zef counter-culture movement and members of rap-rave duo Die Antwoord, who play two local gangsters who want to use him for their own nefarious purposes. You’ll also blow your geek load when Chappie watches “He-Man” and impersonates him. It’s classic stuff.
I seriously love how much heart this movie looks to have, not to mention it’s visually stunning.
In theaters March 6, 2015, the film will star Sharlto Copley as the voice of Chappie, with Ninja and Yolandi Visser. Hugh Jackman, Dev Patel, Jose Pablo Cantillo and Sigourney Weaver also star.
