It’s been years since we’ve heard anything about the final installment in the 28 Days Later trilogy. Ever since the release of 28 Weeks Later, fans have been clamoring for the long-teased 28 Months Later.
Eight years have passed, and just now talks are getting serious, says screenwriter Alex Garland.
“We’ve just started talking about it seriously” he explained to IGN. “We’ve got an idea. Danny [Boyle] and [producer] Andrew [Macdonald] and I have been having quite serious conversations about it so it is a possibility. It’s complicated. There’s a whole bunch of reasons why it’s complicated, which are boring so I won’t go into, but there’s a possibility.”
Confirming the title change…
“It’s more likely to be 28 Months than 28 Years,” he revealed. “28 Years gives you one more place to go. 28 Decades is probably taking the piss,” he jokes.
Garland directs Ex Machina, which hits UK screens on January 21.
