While Fox combates negative press from behind the scenes, the studio has released the first trailer and teaser one-sheet for The Fantastic Four, which stars the incredibly underrated Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm, Kate Mara as Sue Storm, Miles Teller as Reed Richards and Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm.
Personally, I loved the trailer as it looks straight out of Marvel’s “Ultimate Fantastic Four” comic series. The sets were gorgeous, and the costume designs didn’t look cheesy at all. Mostly, I just love the inspired cast, which is sure to carry the film on their backs. I think the biggest fear I have is that, since it’s similar to the “Ultimate” comic, does this mean the finale is the same? The initial Dr. Doom battle comes off a little flaccid in the books, so hopefully director Josh Trank made some changes with the feature film adaptation.
In theaters August 7, 2015, “The Fantastic Four, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.“
