David Lynch Uncertain If ‘Twin Peaks’ Season 3 Will Happen

At the opening night of his art exhibit Between Two Worlds in Brisbane, Australia, director David Lynch openly expressed doubts about the return of cult murder mystery TV show Twin Peaks. During a Q&A session, Lynch was asked if the show was, “…definitely happening?” His response? A deflating and scary, “I don’t know. There are complications.

However, in a later interview with The Mix, Lynch stated the following:

I haven’t returned yet and we’re still working on the contract, but I love the world of Twin Peaks and I love those characters. And I think it will be very special to go back into that world.

According to Welcome To Twin Peaks, the reason for this uncertainty isn’t anything related to funding but rather is a result of issues with contract negotiations. The site also states that the scripts for the third season are finished.

Twin Peaks originally aired in 1990 and lasted two seasons before being cancelled. The third season, should it still move forward, will air on Showtime in summer of 2016.
