Emmy-winning actor Richard Dysart passed away this past Sunday at his home after a long illness, according to his wife. He was 86 years old.
Dysart is most known to horror fans for his role as Dr. Copper in John Carpenter’s The Thing. He was also the voice of Cogliostro in the animated Spawn series and was Isely in the 1979 sci-fi/horror Prophecy.
Dysart started his acting career in the 50’s but really became active in the 60’s. He was perhaps best known for portraying Leland McKenzie on NBC’s legal drama L.A. Law.
