Collider is reporting that producer Kathleen Kennedy, Lucasfilm’s vice president of development Kiri Hart, and director Gareth Edwards have released details for the first of several one-off films that will take place in the Star Wars universe. Titled Star Wars: Rogue One, the film will be about a band of resistance fighters who will attempt to steal the plans for the Death Star.
Felicity Jones will play a rebel soldier and the film will take place between the events of Episodes III and IV, with Edwards stating that it’s closer to episode IV.
The film is set to be released in December of 2016.
