Badass Digest has scored the exclusive poster for the upcoming documentary The Nightmare, which tackles the subject of sleep paralysis and how it manifests for eight people who suffer from this disorder. The poster simply shows a pillow that has obviously been slept on while showing the tagline, “Welcome to the scariest place on Earth”.
Directed by Rodney Ascher (Room 237), the site describes the film:
The Nightmare recreates the hypnagogic hallucinations that these people experience…[showing] terrifying shadowmen, spectral cats, sudden spiders and menacing spirits…
The above link also leads to an interview with Ascher, who himself suffers from sleep paralysis. He describes one event where, “…a ‘shadow man’ (and really, it was a black silhouette of a man but three dimensional) walked into my room and leaned over my bed. I was certain it was supernatural, and EVIL and it was the reason I couldn’t move or yell for help.”
The Nightmare comes out in theaters and on VOD on June 5th.
