Symphonic Fury: The Music Of Japanese Monsters is a Kickstarter that is currently running and aiming to raise $35,000 to bring a glorious concert to the Chicago area. Their aim is to showcase the music of both Akira Ifukube (Godzilla, Atragon, War Of The Gargantuas) and Kow Otani (Gamera: Guardian of the Universe, Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All Out Attack) with a live musical performance that will take place at the G-Fest weekend (July 10th-12th, 2015).
The first portion of the concert will focus on Otani’s musical contributions to the kaiju genre. This performance will be the world premiere of his music and he is personally working with the team, “…to ensure that the music is represented with absolute respect and authenticity.”
Afterwards, the performance will present a three movement piece of Ifukube’s works, dubbed the “Symphonic Fantasia”. It will feature, “…scenes from the corresponding movies for the Toho Video release of “Godzilla Fantasia”… [and] also from the other aforementioned films.”
