Game developer Bryan Mitchell is intent on making sure you never, ever feel safe in your home again. And the way he’s doing it is by creating Night Terrors, a new mobile game that uses your phone’s camera to turn your home into a haunted house. The project is currently seeking funding through Indiegogo to the tune of $70,000, of which they’ve already raised just under $4,000 in 24 hours.
The game is meant to take place only at night when it’s dark and offers the following thoughts:
Think about a system that understands where you are in your environment, and is able to exploit that information in order to create an unbelievable augmented reality experience.
Think about playing a game where the storyline involves you. Consider a future full of movies you star in, experiences that seem real, and scenarios, in our case, that are freakishly frightening.
This is in your house. This is in your apartment. This is in your environment.
This is Night Terrors.
Look, I’m all for playing a scary game in the dark to make things very unsettling. But turning my home into the stage for ghosts and other haunting specters? Yeah, I’m going to have to pass on that. All aboard the “Fuck That” express with a direct line to Nopesville!
