Back in April we told you guys that Disneyland would be bringing the infamous “Hatbox Ghost” back to the Haunted Mansion attraction in California.
The Hatbox Ghost, which was part of the original Haunted Mansion attraction back in 1969, was removed because of an alleged issues with his effect, which would see his head vanish and then appear inside a box.
With modern technology, the Imagineers at Disney were able to resurrect the 999th happy haunt this weekend in celebration of the the park’s 60th anniversary diamond celebration!

While Disney never clarified how the Hatbox Ghost would return, the below video shows that he’s been reintegrated back with his 998 supernatural buddies. It appears that you can catch him after the iconic ballroom scene, as you make your way around a corner into the graveyard set. The modern effect is stunning, and made me gasp. Now, if only Disneyland would integrate the brand new finale that’s already active at the Disney World location….
