For the most part, Mortal Kombat X is an entirely competent fighting game that benefits from decades of fine-tuning and a massive amount of content. Those are worthy reasons to play it right there, but we all know its real appeal lies with its celebration of all things red and squishy. If I told you about this awesome secret fatality in which Scorpion strangles his opponent with their own spine until their head pops off, you wouldn’t be surprised, and that’s the appeal.
I bring this up because Smosh brings it up first in their new honest trailer for Mortal Kombat X.
In my review of the game, I found Mortal Kombat X to be a solid follow-up to MK9 that makes up for its feeling so familiar with an “exciting roster, visceral combat, a ridiculous amount of content and a willingness to tweak a proven formula.”
