Swedish classic heavy metal band Ghost have released an official video for their track “Cirice”, which comes from the upcoming album Meliora (iTunes).
The grainy video, which was directed by Roboshobo (Brandon Flowers, Alice In Chains), shows a young girl being taken to a talent show, where she sits bored as a young girl shows off her puppy, another girl playing with a hula hoop, a young man showing off his “magic”… Suddenly, a child version of Ghost appears on stage and performs the song, the audience stunned and seemingly sickened by the music and visuals. However, as the song progresses, the young girl seems to become more and more entranced. Ultimately, the song awakens something deep and powerful within her, resulting in a scene that looks like something out of Carrie.
Personally, I love this video. It has a wonderful visual aesthetic that is often attempted at these days but fails because you can tell it’s digital that’s been overlaid with an effect. This feels far more organic and has a glorious Italian giallo vibe about it.
