The soundtrack to the 1981 action thriller Escape From New York will be getting a limited vinyl release courtesy of Silva Screen. The soundtrack was composed by director John Carpenter in association with Alan Howarth. The 2xLP will feature over 20 minutes of previously unreleased music as well as music that was featured in scenes deleted from the final print.
According to Light In The Attic (which has pre-orders open), “the masters were re-mixed from the original multi-track session tapes by long-time Carpenter associate Alan Howarth.”
Another cool tidbit is that disc 2 apparently features original dialogue, which will make the listening experience that much more interesting. Imagine hearing that awesome music and suddenly Snake Plissken is talking. I’m all for it.
