[E3 2015] A Serial Killer is Coming to Getcha in ‘Enki’

Microsoft welcomed another horror game to the Xbox One’s gradually growing library of spooky exclusives this week with the reveal of Enki. Its announcement trailer isn’t particularly revealing, but it did leave me with the impression that this survival horror game leans somewhat heavily on puzzles — a staple of the genre — that I’m assuming will be used as obstacles when we’re tasked with fleeing from a murder-happy serial killer.

I enjoy pull levers and pressing glowing buttons as much as any lifelong fan of the survival horror genre, so this looks to be right up my wheelhouse. Check it out and tell me what you think.

Enki is an Xbox One exclusive that will feature what its awesomely named developer, Storm in a Teacup, refers to as an “extensive randomization system”. This system guarantees each playthrough is unique, though I’m not quite sure if they mean the environments are procedurally generated, or if it’s referring to the placement of items, randomized puzzle solutions, or possibly even some combination of the three.

Multiple endings will further add to its replay factor, even if the one we end up with will almost certainly be grim. That’s according to the press release that accompanied its unveiling, which said “Your ending is most likely a horrible and painful death.”

No word on a release date yet.
