Channing Tatum and Chris Pratt Train to Become ‘Ghostbusters’?

Published

on

While Paul Feig is hard at work filming his Ghostbusters, which stars Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon as the supernatural bounty hunters, the studio was is secretly developing that rumored “all-male” sequel that they hope will star both Chris Pratt, pictured below, and Channing Tatum, pictured above.

Back in March it was reported that Tatum was the focus of an all-male Ghostbusters to be released as a companion to Feig’s reboot. Then, things began to snowball as it was then alleged that the plan was to cross the streams on four Ghostbusters films, and create an Avengers-like universe for them.

Like all stars do, Tatum then refuted the report, even though it was true. Fact of the matter is, Tatum is big enough to weigh his options, keeping him from committing until the very last second. It’s possible that he’s stuck in a wait and see approach (like with Gambit), which is probably why Sony continues to develop this take.

In a new interview with MTV, screenwriter Drew Pearce was asked about his completed screenplay that was alleged to be for both Chris Pratt and Tatum.

“That’s definitely the cast we’ve been thinking about as we approach the project,” Pearce confirmed, further adding, “Whether that happens or not is very much above my pay grade. It’s just my job to give them something exciting that maybe they’ll do.”

Confirming plans for an Avengers-style universe, he adds: “My personal inclination is to try and make everything occur in the same Ghostbusters universe, because I feel, as a fan, that’s what I would want,” he said. “Standing here in New York, you just wanna tie it all together. Whether that happens or not we’ll see, but I’ve certainly given them the tools to do that, I hope.”

When asked about what the through-line would be, he wouldn’t reveal, but he does tease that it’s ambitious.

“Obviously it’s top secret, but there’s a gigantic bold idea that I came up with, and the Russo brothers — who did Captain America: The Winter Soldier and are doing Civil War at the moment — and Ivan Reitman, who did the original movie, are going to take that and run with it. Obviously I cannot tell you what it is, but hopefully in one year’s time you’ll know!”

Ahead of the release, Bagley said,My goal with this film was to make a hilarious, fast-paced thrill ride while also telling a great story with heart. Hopefully, through all the blood, laughs, fights, and gags, you leave the film feeling inspired to tackle whatever life throws at you.

Hold the Fort premiered at Fantasia last summer before going on to play FrightFest London, Toronto After Dark, and Beyond Fest.

I wrote in my review,It’s an infectiously charming assemblage of jokes and monster vignettes bound together by a barebones plot with not much on its mind beyond delivering an entertaining time.
