When the survival horror game Until Dawn hits PS4 later this month, it could give us an idea of how the slasher genre will fare in its endeavor to bring the stabby-hack-em-up goodness that moviegoers have enjoyed for a very long time now to video games.
There’s added pressure on Until Dawn to be good because it’s one of only a few major horror releases we know to be coming this year. Whether or not it succeeds will likely depend on what it brings to the table, like the Butterfly Effect system, which guarantees every choice will have an impact on the narrative, much like 2010’s similarly themed story-driven thriller Heavy Rain.
Until Dawn arrives on August 25 exclusively for PS4.
