Luciano Onetti and Nicolás Onetti, the pair behind 2013’s Sonno Profondo (Deep Sleep), are back with another giallo, this time in the form of Francesca. In support of the film’s world premiere at the upcoming Sitges Film Festival in October where it will compete in the “New Visions” category and for the “Best Latin American Production” award, the duo has released the first official trailer and images.
The trailer looks pretty awesome I think. The Onettis clearly like a very specific era of films and their influence shows. The music in particular sounds very similar to Goblin’s theme for Suspiria. I’m eager to see this one. It’ll be interesting to see if it turns out well or is just one of those movies that tries to hard to0 be part of a era from yesteryear.
Synopsis:
It’s been 15 years since the disappearance of little Francesca, daughter of the renowned storyteller, poet and dramatist Vittorio Visconti, and the community is stalked by a psychopath bent on cleaning the city of “impure and damned souls”. Moretti and Succo, questioned by the ineffectiveness of the police force, are the detectives in charge of elucidating the mystery surrounding these “Dantesque” crimes. Francesca seems to have returned, but she is not be the same girl who everyone knew…
